UWAASA Forum: The Multiform Impacts of AI on Academic Life
This event will bring together academic staff from across the University to discuss what the integration of AI into higher education means for academic life, beyond the typical discussion focused on challenges and opportunities.
The forum will be followed by drinks at The University Club of Western Australia.
Date: Thursday 12 March 2026
Time: 4:00pm-6:00pm, post-forum drinks 6:00pm-7:00pm
Speakers:
- Prof Tony Hughes-D’Aeth – Chair in Australian Literature, who teaches and researches on writing narratives in the Digital Age
- Prof Silvana Gaudieri – Head of School of Human Sciences, who engages with the impacts of AI on research and supervision
- A/Prof Sarah Prout Quicke – Associate Professor in the Discipline of Geography, who has recently studied the impacts of AI on students’ learning and cognition
- Scott Nicholls – University librarian and member of the UWA GenAI Think Tank
