Even if you weren’t in attendance at the VC’s thank you morning tea last week, I presume will have been appraised of the content of the announcement. In brief, the CSMs in the Enterprise Agreement Variation (EAV) that we voted to support earlier this year are to cease.

The new promotions process has moved ahead, but not without some surprises. It turns out that, within a number of Schools across at least a couple of Faculties, there were “pre-approval” processes being carried out to determine whether applications should be submitted.

As academics at UWA, we find ourselves at a turning point. For a long time, we have been putting our shoulders to the wheel to do whatever needed to be done. When we have been asked to come up with new degrees, new programs, new intellectual structures, new ways of interacting with our students, etc.
